100-crore works out (in an online conversion tool) to be about $ 2,323,8496 Australian. Now, that is a non-trivial sum of money.

Wouldn’t it be more keeping to the spirit of Ghandi to give this money to charities which help the poor, homeless and hungry rather than building a 20 meter tall statue of the great man ? Although the original statue idea has been canned, if they were to use the money for something investing in peace and compassion and then they would pay respect to the man and his spirit.
